Lando Norris Leads Piastri in Brazilian Practice
Lando Norris has beaten his teammate at each of the last five grands prix.
The McLaren driver edged out fellow driver and title rival the Australian for the top spot in the dying seconds of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who grabbed the title advantage from Piastri by a single point after winning in the Mexican Grand Prix a fortnight back, beat the Melbourne-born driver by 0.023 seconds.
Before then, Piastri had been the leading McLaren for most of the session before the sprint shootout set to begin at 18:30 GMT.
Max Verstappen, the only other driver in the points battle, sitting 36 points behind behind Norris, was classified in 17th position as his team ran a different programme.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the only driver to have an incident, albeit lightly, when he rotated at the fourth corner during the early running.
Tsunoda slid over the curbs on exit before sliding over the run-off area, and was lucky to avoid just a light touch of the fence.
The Ferrari of Lewis Hamilton also had a spin, at the very end of the practice, spinning around through the quick descending corner approaching the final corner on to the main straight.
Hamilton ended the session in 19th, trailing team-mate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren drivers were well clear of the remaining drivers, with the German's Sauber third fastest, 0.619 seconds slower than Piastri's pace.
The Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso was fourth fastest, with the Sauber of Gabriel Bortoleto in front of the Mercedes of Russell and Alpine's Pierre Gasly and the Williams of Sainz.
